TO-MORROW'S DOUBLE BILL In his newest film i'o!e, Walter Connolly, popular screen character actor, assumes the personality of a man already made .famous by fiction. In to-morrow’s first feature, “Father Brown, Detective”. Connolly brings to the screen the amiable, loveable, and eccentric amateur detective, made familiar' to millions of readers bv the G. K. Chesterton stories. “Father Broivn, Detective” features Connolly, with Paul Lukas and Gertrude Michael in the leading romantic roles, and Robert Lorainc and Una. O'Connor in the supporting roles. The film is devoted to the battle of wits between mild Father Brown and the most dangerous of European jewel thieves, Flambeau, who is Intent on stealing the Flaming Star diamonds;, in Father Brown’s possession. Flambeau -ft driven to this desperate and foolhardy venture by his love 'for a rich and beautiful girl, and Father Brown, who cannot help but sympathhe with the charmin- rascal, determiner; to bring him to- earth but not before he lias accomplished a moral reform of the man. In various disguises, Flambeau makes attempts' to- steal the diamond hut each time ik repulsed by Father Brown. Finally persuaded of the errors of his ways, lie surrenders to the police of his own free accord, ready to serve, the sentence that will clear him of his: crimes and free him for the gfrl he loves. The second feature, ‘.‘Cook o’ the Walk” is an enjoyable drama sot in Argentina.
