Including £16,000 already collected £21,000 has now been realised for the re'afforestation of Palestine, £SOOO which iwns subscribed by guests re-pre Renting London Jewry at the Guildhall dinner in aid of the King Georgs V Jubilee Forest Fund. Already the Jewish National . Fund lias acquired 100',000 acres in Palestine and settled 30,000 Jews on it, apart from regular migration. Lord Alelehett, wh© presided, aroused cheers when h© described Palestine ais the potential Singapore of the Near East, protected not by English battalions blit' by 3,000,000 grateful Jews. Sir Herbert Samuel urged th© repopulation of Palestine as a sacred duty. The King acknowledged a message of loyalty from the guests; who cheered th© announcement that His Majcsty had given the first three, from Windsor Park, for a. plantation hv the High Commissioner in the -autumn
