COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE SCHEME. <Press A&oociatieni CHRISTCHURCH, July 5 A: proposal that £lO6 from fractional dividends should bo granted for the relief of distress was put- forward at the annual meeting: of the Canterbury Park Trotting Cl ah, but met, with opposition, and was finally referred 1 to the committee for consideraion. In making th 0 proposal Mr. W. E. Simes stated that trotting, clubs 1!1 Canterbury had accumulated approximately £12,000 in recent vea-rs from fractional dividends. This money was not the property of the totalisator proprietors. It really belonged t° the public. In view of that, he contended 1 that the Canterbury Park club should set, an example by making a donation to some worthy charity. The secretary stated that th c club received £253 during the past year in fractions from dividends.
FAIRBAIRN WINS PRINCE OF WALES -STAKES, <U.P.A. by Elec. Teh <kn)j*iaht.) LONDON, July. 14. The Prince of Wales Stakes resulted 1 : Fairbairn 1; Adept 2; Black Devil 3. Nine started. Won by three lengths, with four lengths between second and third.
