A £25,000 Palace of Health ia near completion at Peckham, London (says the Sunday Dispatch.) As the Pioneer Health Centre., it began iu a private house in Peckham in T 926. • There was a medical officer, a social secretary, and a housekeeper. Families were invited to join on payment of a email weekly sum, and the now building j s the tangible proof of how the system has grown. Hie health centre is not. a hospital. There will be no patients and no wards. It is intended not for those who have lost health, but to encourage healthy people to be health.'* -Iho building resembles a huge conservatory. with windows to admit fresh air and sunlight—two chief tutors in the treatment. There ora consulting-rooms, gymnasium, swim'' ming pool, and an infant welfare centre. Treatment of the whole family ia the chief idea. The bnilding ’baa been designed to cope with -2,000 f»milies, who will pay 2s a week. Priv ileges of membership are the usa «>0 Ihe building, grounds, and equipment, and each member of the fatr.ity will receive a thorough medic.! examination at regular .intervals fc doctors. The Scientific Adriso% ouncil of the centre includes Moynihan (president of ,the Tloyat College of Surgeon?) Sir Fredeihk G. Hopkins (president of the Rcyftl Society), Professor Cathcart, Glasgow University, Professor .Vortk croft- (president of the British Usntal Association), and Mr .Taltart Huxley.
