PROTECTION IN NEAV ZEALAND LIST OF EXCEPTIONS. (Press Association.) AVELLINGTON, Alarch 26 Tho Native Plants Protection Act which was passed by Parliament last (session will be put into- force in h; tew days, announced the Hon. E. A. Ransom. The list of native plants allowed to be taken, -as it will be gazetted shortly, will be hutawai, or puriri (bi/iabi'd), tutu, kanuka, manuka, hard fern, t-auhinu (two- species), bracken ,and nettle and also all -species of sea- and fresh water weeds, fungi, lichens, liverworts, and mosses. Air Rans-om added that a warrant which ha-9 now been signed by the Governor-General declares all native plants, with exception of aRw species which are commonly regarded as weeds, to be protected throughout the whole of the Dominion.
