ISTr T. Corson was returned yesterda unopposed ns representative of payers of -.lues on the Gisborne Harbor Board. Major and Mrs Ransom left Gisborne yesterday morning for Wei' lington, where they will attend the annual congress gatherings to he conducted by General Evangeline Booth. As the nominations for the East Const Babbit Board:, which closed at noon yesterday, did not exceed the constituted number of hoard members no election will be required and the following will be declared elected:— Messrs E. M. Hutchinson. M. L. 21 olden, C. G. TToldsworth, E. AL Monckton and IST. T. Traffonl. Reference to i.lic sudden passing of Mr Sahinel English, a member of the Poverty Bay Electric Power" Board’s staff for the past. 11 years, was made by the chairman (Mr F. B. Ball) at yesterday’s meeting. Prior to the formation of the board Mr English had been associated with the borough electrical undertaking for about four years. He had been thoroughly appreciated by all who knew him and lii.s death was a great loss to the hoard for lie had been in close touch with the public and had always enjoyed their goodwill. Appreciative references to his work were continually being received by the board and one of the latest, was from the fire brigade in reference to the remarkable promptitude of Mr English in reaching fires to co-operate ’ with the firemen.
