JUBILEE GIFT
TO HIS MAJESTY THE F ING. CANCER RESEARCH IN N.Z. TO BENEFIT. (Special to the Times.) WELLINGTON, April 24. In commemoration of the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty’s Accession to tho Throne, the N.Z. Government has proposed that a Jubilee Gilt should he presented to His Majesty b.v tho Government and people of New Zealand. The King has been graciously pleased to approve-of this proposal and has*signified his pleasure that nil moneys collected for this, gift should he devoted to the object of Cancer Research in Now Zealand. The Government has appropriated the sum of £SOOO as its contribution and, with His Majesty’s approval, the Acting-Prime Minister now invites public subscriptions for this purpose. The Government trusts that the people of New Zealand will contribute, according to their means, to.this worthy object. No sum will be too small. Every s subscriber will understand that he is not only contributing towards a gift in honor of His Majesty’s Silver Jubilee, but will, at the same time, be assisting, in accord with His Majesty’s wish, a most deserving object. The total moneys collected will be administered by the N-Z. branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society (Inc.). Contributions will he received until May 31st next and may be paid into any money-order office or forwarded direct to the treasurer of the N.Z. braiicli of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society (Inc.), 212 Lambton Quay, Wellington.
