NAPIER, April 22. ’ Additional Gisborne successes at the Napier Competitions festival included the following : Violin solo under 16 and under 18 (two events). Thomas Lyle. Regarding his under 16 win the judge remarked that his .playing of Henry’s “A First Mazurka” was the i outstanding performance of the : Competition s. Tenor solo, own selection.—Mr James 1 Mercer was placed second .and the judge stated that he showed good artistic ability. ■Sacred solo, men, own selection.— Mr J. Mercer, highly commendedSong in costume, 12 and under 16, own selection.—Flora Grant, highly commended. Vocal solo and accompaniment, 12 and under 16, own selection.—Flora Grant and accompanist, Noel Mahon and Shiela Muriro, highly commended. Dance Duo, poetic, 14 and tinder.—• Bobbie Scott and Shiela Mu.nro, v.h.c. Piano solo, under 14.—Shiela Munro, 2 Musical monologue, under 12, own selection.—Pamela Pollock 1, Ernest Langford h.e. Recitation, girls nine and under 12, own selection, not humorous.— Pamela Pollock, h.e. Recitation, boys nine and under 12, own selection, not humorous.— Noel Mahon and Ernest Langford, equal, 2.
