CYCLE RACKS
TRIAL IN GLADSTONE ROAD COUNCIL’S DECISION. Cycle racks are to be placed as a trial, in the vicinity of the- three picture houses in Gladstone reach the Borough Council! decided last, evening. The subject was dealt with by the works committee, in a. - report to the council as follows: “Tlw* ifcraffic (repeated that the majority of shopkeepers interviewed in regard to tlie,. placing of cycle racks across the watertables in front of their promises 'favoured the idea, as a decided improvement. The inspector stated that 30 racks* in all would be required to provide for everyday requirements, and sug gestedl, where available,. the non parking areas for motor vehicles at street! colrners as suitable position for. racks. Other positions recommended are where it has been noticed .most cycles aye s parked. Your committee recommend, that racks -be placed as a trial, in tlie vicinity of tlie three, picture houses in Gladstone Road. If the scheme is found suitable ' additional! racks could; be provided in other positions at a later date.”- ,
