TWO GIRLS DROWNED. (Press Assaoaatiori.i I ■ - ... AUCKLAND, April 7. For a. second ( time within a week a. double drowning fatality has occurred iri the Dargavilie district. About 4 o’clock this afterrioon, two Maori sisters, Emiri and Piriti Edwards, aged ,10 and/. 6, daughters of Mr and Mrs ‘ John Edwards,- of Naunai settlement Northern. Wairoa river, slipped from the Naunai wharf. They were caught by a strong ebb tide and thrown' against the piles of the structure, where they clung- for some minutes; Only young children wore in the vicinity, anda, girl of 11 tried unsuccessfully to rescue the victims, who'-iwefe car: ried away and disappeared. On the previous Sunday, two men were drowned in Te Karaka Gorge, near Tangowahino.
