Alexander Valentine Harris, 49 who boarded the Otranto at Sydney, and arrested at Tilsbury, charged with having a n irregular passport, hanged himself with a pyjama, e.ord in his cell in Brixton prison. Tho arrest ended a 12 months’ search by Scotland Yard as he was wanted foi; fraud in London, in 1934. Harris fled to France, where he obtained £BOOO By means of a confidence trick -and sailed tor Australia. Scotland Yard was notified when Harris sailed from Sydney.
