Air Thorne-Georgc joined the company in Auckland in 1893, and he subsequently -served at Calcutta,, Singapore and Shanghai. He became manager at Gisborne in 1911, and he was appointed to the -Napier branch seA*en years later. Mr EL Willis, who has been trus-t manager in Auckland since 1925, will succeed Air Thorne-Gcorge. The principal board of the Australian Mutual Provident Society has advised the appointment of Air H. \Y. Piper, as new business supervisor for Ne : w Zealand, consequent upon the retirement of Air H. G. Somervell through ill-health. Air Piper joined the indoor staff of the Society in 19.01 and Avent into partnership with Air J. AY. Carr ru chief agent for AA rellington in 1911. The names of Alessrs Carr and Piper became known through out New Zealand as authorities on all matters pertaining to life assurance and they have been responsible for a substantial amount of neAv business being added to the Society’s books.
