SUBSTANTIAL;INCREASE IN EXPORTS.

The Board of Trade figures for overseas trade in January show a substantial expansion of exports compared with the corresponding irionth of last year, and a moderate increase over the December figures. Re-exports also show considerable improvement. Imports in January totalled £61,931,000, against £62,263,000 in De-
cember and £64,571,000 in January of last year. Exports last month were valued at £35,481,000, against' £34,300,000 in December and £31,609,000 iri January, 1934. Re-exports were valued at £5,034,000, against £3,606,000 and £3,073,000 respectively. LONDON), Feb. 14.
The principal increases' iri trade last month compared with January o'-’ last year were;—Jri imports: Rubber £704,000 ; nonferroiig metals and manufactures, £455,000. In exports: Coal £308,000; iron and stall and manufactures thereof', £405,000; non ferrous metals £310.000; machinery £588,000 cotton yarns, and! manufactures, £342,000 ; woollen and worsted, £214,00; chemicals and drugs, £353,000.
