The London-Midland Railway is testing a new oil-driven railway coach which it hopes to utilise at hig speed aud perhaps give half a dozen trains tlai’y to Scotland, each carrying 200 passengers, instead of steam trains With 600 passengers. Each coach carries 50 to 100 passengers and has rubber tyres, with a mixumum speed of ninety miles an hour, and great, power of acceleration. The running costs of these light units are only half that of ordinary trains.
