WON THREE RACES IN ONE DAY
HORSE! THEN DISQUALIFIED
(U.I’.A. bv Elec. TW. Copyright) HOBART, December 31
After the horse, Stable June, who raced in the interests of J. Brown, had won three-traces in the afternoon at the Wyandra Amateur Race Club’s meeting, the stewards held an inquiry into the bona fides of the horse. . The nominator, J. Brown, was disqualified for 12 months, and the horse Stable June was’'disqualified for life.' ’
Competing in each alternate race, Stable June carried 10.7, 11.2, and 12.7, starting a warm favourite on each occasion.
NOTES AND NEWS. Here is a little poser for racing enthusiasts and those who flatter themselves that can “heat the hook.” There are three horses running in a race—the complete field. If you were a bookmaker, could you give the following odds: Even money, 2 to 1, and 3 to 1, and yet win £l, no matter what horse won? And Low would you do it? It could ho done in this way: Even £6 against £6; 2to I—£B against £4; 3t o 1— £9 against £3. There would be £l3 in the “bag” and only £l2 to pay out. of it.
