During the committee stage in the House of Lords on consideration of tlie Incitement to Disaffection Bill Lord Allen said it recently came to his knowledge from a source he had no reason to doubt, that there was some kind of movement atout i» Britain to seize tlie 13.8. C. and bring about a coup d’etat similar to the one prepared in Vienna.
Interviewed by the Daily Herald, Lord Allen refused to sav whether the plan came from the Right or the 'Left, but said it was seriously discussed by .one of the parties which believed in unconstitutional action. He did not think the plans had progressed beyond the contemplation stage.
