It was thought that this would create more impression than the teachers would be able to do. ■ - The Hawke’s Bay Education Board, writing regarding the establishment of a Std. VII., indicated that it was sympathetic towards the proposal. The Board had been notified that 17 children would attend, but the letter asked for further details regarding the ages of the children, the year in which each passed Std. VI; whether any of them had done any work in St. VII; and the names or children at present in Std. \I; and who are willing to attend subject to their gaining their Proficiency Certificate at the end of the year. Children attending the Native school should be included as well as those from the Vmblic school.

All committees in this district have been circularised from Gisborne in connection with the formation of the Poverty Ba v School Committees' Association. The committees of the five primary schools in the Gisborne urban area, have formed themselves into an association, and it was felt that the scope of the association i> use!illness might be extended by not restrict ing its membership to representatives from the town schools, but by admitting to membership any school committee within the North M arti.

It was decided to join the Association and write asking for further information.
