The death of 84' passengers and 80 mcmljers of the crew of the Morro Castle which was burned' at sea on September, 8, was attributed to-day by the United States steamboat inspection service to the rapid spread of the lire the delay in giving the fire alarm, the ineffectiveness of the fire alarm system, tho failure to mark •exits properly and the delay of officers in /sending S.O. messages.
BRITISH TREASURY RETURN'S. LESS REVENUE. MORE EXPENDITURE. (British Official Wireless,). RUGBY, Nov. 7. The Exchequer returns for the past week show that during the current financial year the total ordinary revenue, exclusive •of self-balancing- revenue, amounted at November 3 to £333,046,439, which .is £3,976,060 less than the amount,collected to tho corresponding date of last vtar. Expenditure for the same period, exclusive of self-balancing items, was £414,653,559, which exceeds the amount expended to the corresponding dabo last year by £8,087,297.
