The Franco-American women’s match was marred by mishaps. A'liss Alihe Alar hie, who has been indispos od! for several days, insisted on playing against her doctor’s advice, opposing iHd'lle. Ilenrotin, wlio was leading 4—l in the first set when Aliss Marble suddenly fell in a dead faint, and was taken to hospital and ordered a lengthy rest.
