NEW ZEALAND’S PROGRESS !N
TWELVE MONTHS.
MR. COATES IN OPTIMISTIC MOOD.
(Press Association/
AUCKLAND, March 12.
“Our outlook to-day is definitely: better than it was 12 months’ ago,’’ said the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, opening the annual conference of the New ;• Zealand Justices of the Peace Association this morning. He said conditions were difficult, but he thought' everyone could feel that something was moving, improved prioes for wool and meat were benefiting the South Island, but the dairy farmers, particularly in the North, were experiencing a most difficult time. The question of assistance would always have to come back to the Government. Encouraging prospeots were an improvement in the apple growing and pig-raising industries, and the world position was definitely brighter than a year ago.
