Many prominent member* were defeated, including Sir .Cyril Cobb, Dame Beatrice Lyall, and Captain Bertram Mills, all Liberals. The' Communists were defeated.' Thirteen results are being declared to-day. . The old Council comprised 83 Municipal Reformers, 3o Labor and six Liberals. This will be Labor’s first* majority in the London County Council. He added that Labor would exercise its power cleanly but with determination and a sense of public responsibility. Lord Jefsel, one of .the Municipal Reform leaders, declared that Labor’s triumph was largely due to the apathy of many electors, who did hot trouble, to vote.
