REGENT
“SECRET OF THE BLUE ROOM.” A drama of mystery containing many moments of suspense is screened in ‘‘Secrets of the Blue Room.” One of the chief features in this rather grim story of a mysterious legend surrounding a Blue Room in a private castle is the manner in which speculation regarding tile murderer is maintained until the last moments of the play. As the charming daughter of the house, on the eve of her twenty-first birthday when the play opens Gloria Stuart’s s"eci grace and varied talents east a ape.** of fascination over the audience.. There are three who admire her. and these characters are played b.v Raul Lukas, Edward Arnold and Onslow Stevens, Lionel Afcwi.l] is convincing in tho role of Gloria’s father. There are many in the household "ho are more or less concerned in the succession ol tragedies which occur, and evidence points to most of them who could bo classed as guilty of the crime committed. Openiinr on the night of a twenty-first birthday party, the story leads the players immediately into the meshes of an inexplicable disappearance, to be followed up the next night by the murder of a journalist. The police m-o notified and a cross-examination id each member of the household )s held. Chauffeur, maid, cook, butler, and even the master of the household aro interrogated. For the tlifrcl evening ft trap is carefully prepared and a thrilling climax follows. Tile supporting programme includes screening of the final in the Wimbledon singles tennis championship, between Crawford and Vines, and Gleason comedy, a Pooch Carton and newsreels.
