CUSTOMS AND BEER DUTY
FIGURES FOR GISBORNE
DRINK TAX INCREASE. ' Customs duty collected at the Port of Gisborne during the month ended yesterday showed a decline of ,-£2130 compared with the amount collected in October of last year, the total last mouth being JOl9dD as against £2179 twelve months ago, J'or the first 10 mouthy of this year the Customs duty aggregates £23,102, a decline of about £260 as compared with the corresponding period of 1932. Boer duty, on the other hand, showed a substantial increase last month, the amount being £938 as compared with only £570 in October, 1932. l r or the year to date the total is £0745, whereas in the corresponding portion of 1932 it was £0987. Sales tax collected at Gisborne last month aggregated £954, bringing to the total to date to £7009. Returns for the 10 mouths ended yesterday are as lollows:
