AGAIN WHITE CLOVES?
NEXT WEEK’S SUPREME COURT, NO CASES TO DATE. Provided no criminal cases come forward before next Tuesday, a new record will be established when the quarterly session of the Supreme Court opens before ALT, Justice Ostler in six days’ time. At the last local session of the Supreme Court no prisoners awaited trial and Air. Justice Blair was presented with a pair of white gloves for the second time in his career on the bench. With the proviso given above, the time-honored custom will again be honored next week and Gisborne will have established a record never before equalled in the Dominion, a record all tlie more remarkable in light of the great extent of the district and the fact that crime appears to bo on the increase in most other parts of New Zealand. The civil list for the session opening on Tuesday next is also fairly light. Three civil actions have been set down for hearing, also one case on appeal, two divorce petitions, one originating summons, one summons for adjudication in bankruptcy, four motions for discharge from bankruptcy and a number of applications under the Mortgagors’ Relief Act.
