OPEN TITLE MOSS SCORES COMFORTABLE WIN AGAINST DOUGLAS (Press Association ) AUCKLAND, Oct. 16. The play-off in the tie of the New Zealand open golf championship was ■decided on the Titirangi links to-day between E. J. -Moss (Auckland), 'and E. S. Douglas (Balmacewan) j resulting in a comfortable win foi 31oss by 146 strokes to 100. Both these professionals had Led over the four . rounds, with a total of 300. They started the play-off on Saturday, but a deluge of r.ain caused the abandonment of p*ay on the sixth green. _ . Rain during the week-end, and again this morning did not promise well, but apart from an odd light shower, the match was decided tin der good, green conditions, although the very strong southerly wind 'blowing made it an excellent test of accuracy. Moss was the more steady Pf the pair, and completed the outwar,d journey in 37 against, his op 'jpnent’.s- 40. -v feature of the homerard journey was that Moss won /the first hole in 4 to 5, and then each of the succeeding eight holes iwas halved.
