Contracts have now been let tor the erection of 3S residences on an area of 250 acres of Harbor Board endowment land for the Napier village settlement promoted oy the Government under the 'Small rar.m; scheme. The sections on which the homes will be erected are approximately of five acres each. The isett-lers have been chosen from the ranks of married unemployed men. Much work already has been carried out on the area, including the formation af roads, the ploughing of land, ana the planting of crops, also lencrng and the sinking of artesian wells. The contract time, for the completion of the dwellings, each constructed to the requirements of the individual families, is 10 .weeks. As a sequel to the letting of the contracts, and much work promoted by the No. 10 scheme, two sawmills in the district have been placed on full-time.
