Two young men overtaken at Harr ora recently by a motorist going to Stratford ,told a story of an. existence anything hut monotonous. The two, both dressed in brown tweed suits that had become sodden hv the rain, were from Hawke’s pay, and on becoming unemployed bad tramped to Wellington. Meeting with no luck they had set out for Auckland via New Plymouth searching for mechanics’ work. With lifts the trip occupied 8 } days,' and when Auckland failed to; provide tho pair with work they decided to return to Hawke’s Bay by way of New Plymouth. From Auckland to Rugby road had taken seven days, they said, and in the whole time 'they had been away s from Hawke’s Bay the pair had secured hub’ a' few days’ ■farming.
