AO the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Power Board yesterday, the Hon. J. B. Owing to the break in the weather, members of the Native Hating Commission have abandoned their intention of proceeding to Opotiki round the top end of the East Coast. They returned to Gisborno yesterday afternoon, and leave oka or the Motu route. Sittings are to be held next week at Opotiki, Wliakatane, Tauranga and Rotorua, alter which the Commission will disband for a few days in order to attend to other pressing work which has accumulated during their absence.

Arrangements are well in haid for fho Regimental (City Band) ball, to be held in the City Hall on June 1, and from the numerous inquiries received by the bon. secretary (Mr G. H. Fisher) it appears as if the hall will In? filled to capacity. The floor will /receive every attention and a spfifcial feature of the evening will be the opening waltz, “Waves of the, /Danube” to be played by the ‘ full baud. Mrs Menzies’ orchestra will he in attendanie and the popularity of Ithis combination, is well known to dancing enthusiasts. The Regiment will be strongly represented by officers and men of the Gisborne, Tola <31 Bay and ; Wbatatutu unite. Supper arrangements are in the hands of the ladies’ committee, who are leaving no stone unturned to make the ball a success in every wav.
