MOUNTED RIFLES
MINISTER IMPRESSED AVITH -WORK
f ■ ' . CORPS HAS WAITING LIST OF 23
Press Association) WELLINGTON, Alay 25. “I had an opportunity yesterday”, remarked the Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbo, to-day, “of seeing a very line body of young men under canvas at AVavcrley. undergoing annual military training. They were aTI territorials under voluntary system, and belonged to the Queen Alexandra Mounted Rifles, the men being drawn from the districts between Wanganui and New Plymouth. “I was particularly impressed with the stalwart type and physique of the men, who are mostly from farms, and with their excellent mounts. I understand that the regiment is recruited up to full strength, with a waiting list of 23. There was a splendid spirit of enthusiasm permeating the camp, and the men were manifestly getting as much interest from the work as they were enjoyment.”
