- RELIEF WORKER KILLED BY TRAIN.
NO ONE SAW ACCIDENT. (Press Association) STRATFORD, May 25. An inquest into the circumstances of the death of Frank Ritchie, 34, a single man, who was killed at Wlianga momona through being run over by a train, was adjourned for further inquiries. The evidence showed that deceased left the Kohuratahi relief camp with the intention of joining the midnight goods train at Whangamomona for Stratford. N T o one was on duty at AYhangamomono station when the train passed through, and no one saw ’tlie accident. While shunting was being carried out, a’passenger strolled along tho platform and heard groans. Ho drew the guard’s attention, and tlie deceased was found' wedged between the track and tlie station platform. He was badly injured, and was extricated only with difficulty and) removed to Stratford, hut died before the train arrived.
