'We’ve been pals for 40 years.” ‘‘Never f|itarrcllcd t die was asked. “Never once.” ho said. ■“Has he ever tried to borrow off ’you?” somebody asked with a wink. .'“Never!” said the ancient, “here he is, gentlemen!”—and be pulled out. an old briar pipe! “When I fill him up of a- night, after tea, with my favorite brand, Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), and lay back in my old arm-chair 1 wouldn't call the Queen ntv Aunt!” Everybody laugh-: cd. “That’s New Zealand toasted, isn’t it?” asked someone. Ho nodded. “There’s other toasted brands,” bo said, “Riverhead Gold,' Cavendish, and Navy Cut No. 3 ; (Bulldog) —all prime, and all harmless.
