Mr. S'culliu, Leader.of th c Opposition, in tlie House of Representatives to-day attacked the Government upon its failure to achieve a reduction in interest on Australian loan indebtedness in Britain. He cited the success of the recent British conversions and of the Indian loan, illustrating that there was no shortage of money. He declared that Australian people were entitled to relief and added that Australia’s annual interest bill is £35,000,000, because she is paying between 5 to GJ- per cent interest. The Prime Minister (Mr. Lyons) replied that the Goveninent bad don e everything possible to bring about conversion through the Resident Minister in London, but events now will have to take their course until after tlie World Economic Conference.
