It is officially announced that the German Minister called on Dr. Dollfuss to protest against the "inhospitable reception” of Herr Franck and other Nazi Ministers. Dr. Dollfuss replied that Austria’s action was not- against the German Government but against Herr Franck personally. It is reported that the Austrian Minister in Berlin protested to the Foreign Office against Herr Franck’s presence in Austria, and particularly against the speech be made at Graz. The police intercepted Herr Franck, who was motoring from Graz to Saltzberg and informed him that the Government wished him to leave Austria at the earliest moment.

Herr Franck altered his plans immediately and journeyed direct to Bavaria. VIENNA. May 16. Cabinet met at midnight following the receipt of Germany’s vigorous protest at Austria’s attitude towards the German Nazi Ministers - It is now stated that the Government ordered Herr Franck’s departure. The Daily Telegraph’s Vienna correspondent says Dr. Dollfuss, Austrian Chancellor, is going to Rome at Whitsuntide to sign a new Austrian concordat with the Vatican. He will probably meet Herr Hitler under the aegis of Senor Mussolini, with whom Herr Hitler i s due to hold a conference at the same time. It is learned that Sunday’s disorders are worse than were realised, comprising attacks in hundreds ol towns and villages by the Nazis *ganst the Heimwehr journeying to Vienna. The total wounded in tho provinces amounted to 270.
