Club was in. connection with winter activities. the. formation of a social- chib being discussed, and a- programme of sports for the winter months being adopted. Hi ere were present Messrs O.- McCoy (chairman), F. McDonald!, W. Campbell, -G-. Quinn, W. M. Wildish. and .T. E. Alercer. bon. sec A short, .discussion arose .in connection with the proposed cycle race series for -boy competitors, -for a Trophy, now on view in in the Star Cycle premises. The committee agreed that any lad who is under the ago ok IB years on the dace of the first Tace of the series will be entitled 1 t-o compote in all the trophy events. N In regard to the proposal to establish a social club, ' it twas reported that preliminary arrangements wore already well advanced. teres fed in ail forms of amateur sport will be invited to attend. A sub-committee comprising Messrs AVudsh, Quinn, and Mercer was appoint'ed to complete arrangements for tho opening of the club.. It was suggested that any club member or supporter who can spare an item of furniture, or any books, pictures, or games, should communicate with Mr A force r. Tho dance committee reported that everything was in order for tho forthcoming dance. A programme for the winter months submitted by the programme committee was approved. It iwas proposed to open tho winter series of competitions on June 3. with 1 a harriers’ event on the Abattoirs course, and two short cycle races, one for regular performers and th 0 other for boy dyclists, this being the first of a series for the Mercer Trophy. On June 22, harriers will be catered for with a race on the Barker’s Hill course, and there'will be an open, cycle race on the Waihirere circuit, and a shorter event for boy cyclists. Thereafter the club will hold fortnightly competitions in which runners and cyclists will be provided for, tho July programme being;— July 6: Harriers: Town to Afnkarake. Cyclists: Mnknraka-AVaeron-ga-a-hika circuit (twice round) : also boys' cycle' race. 'July 22. Harriers; Five-mile cross-country point-to-point event, on courso to bo indicated, la for. Cyclists:King s road and. Makaraka-Rushmere •ciTcvfjits, combined; also Lots’ race. Courses tor boys’ cycle- races were not decided on, the matter being hold over pending receipt of suggestions Crom tho donor of the trophy. It was noted h.y the general committee .that several old-established races had been, revived by the sub-commitxce, anj that with one or two new races added • for the harriers, and also the holding of tho hoys’ races in the cycling field, it was considered that a good winter season was assured. Tho proposal-to hold three races on each fortnightly date was also considered a good one, members fool ing that the public would; appreciate tho (club’s efforts to provide a full afternoon’s entertainment. ■ The secretary advised that the Atb-' lotio Football Club’s .training rooms would be. available for winter sports enthusiasts, and expressed the wish that members would avail themselves of the, opportunity to ke'ep in trim during the colder months.
