An intense anti-cyclone is passing to the northwards, while a westerly depression containing several separate waves now extends from southeast Australia on to southern Now Zealand. Forecast. Winds.—Moderates to strong northwesterly. gale force at places south of New Plymouth and Napier, backing at times to south-westerly in the southern, districts. Sans. —Rough on the west coast and about. C’ook and Fovoaux Straits, elsewhere modcrate. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Strong north to west minds to gales, with rough to heavy seas. 'Weather. —Cloudy to overcast generally, rain in districts with a westerly aspect and the far south, with some heavy falls; mainly fair, however. in eastern districts. Mild temperatures.
