COMPETITION GAME. R.9.A. DEFEAT CASH STORES. Playing in a competiton match at the Oval on Thursday, R.S.A. defeated Cash Stores by SI runs on the first innings. The losers were three men short. R.S.A., batting first, started onl 5 moderately, though Lee (13) and Uai--bour (10) both reached double figures. Four wickets were down i'°r 51, but Hope and Mace then adejed in’quick time. Mace was especially vigorous and had five fours in his 24) while Hope’s 23 included three boundaries. . Six wickets were down for 95 When Turbitt joined Graham and another good stand put on 58. Graham then retired unbeaten with 28 (a fivcnnd four fours) and Turbitt was skittled by Newton when he had reached 32 (one six and three fours; of the previous hall the batsman helped himself to the sixer). The innings was declared with nine wickets down for 166.* 1 ' Scholium (three for 57), Newton (two for 10) and Stewart (two for 331 did best with the ball.
Cash Stores made a good start, C. and L. Scholium sending up 42 before the latter "was out for a-sound 22 (one six and three fours), wickets then continued to fall cheaply ah the one end, while C. Scholium piled up runs at the other. Eventually, with the total at 85., Turbitt got .a good bail past Scholium and the innings concluded.
