■ What is believed to be a record operation., so far as the age of the patient is concerned, has been performed for cataract on Golam 1 Mondal, a Bengali Moslem 105 years of age. He went to- a hospital in the suburbs of Calcutta, where he gave his age as 60, and asked to be operated v upon. Although it was obvious that he was considerably older, ho refused.to alter, his statement. After the operation •had been performed and he was satisfied’that he could see, lie stated that lie was-105. The centenarian, who enjoys remarkable health and strength, explained that ho, was afraid, the-doctor might refuse to operate on one-so advanced -in years.
