OBITUARY

MR THOMAS DAWSON

The death occurred at Cook Hospital yesterday of Sir Thomas Dawson, aged 60, an ex-Serviceman who participated in fighting on various French fronts during tho Great War.

The late Mr Dawson was horn in Otago and, after some time in the south, came to the North Island. He enlisted at Mastcrton and left New Zealand with the Ninth. Reinforcements, later being drafted int-o- the 4tli Otago Battalion'. Serving in France until 1917, he was then invalided home. For . some years he was employed with the Public Work Department aud came to Gisborne about eighteen months ago. Latterly he had been in the Memorial Home. The funeral will leave Cochrane’s chapel, William street, at 2.30 p.m. to-day (Wednesday) for Taruhcru cemetery, where the interment will take place in lliei Soldiers’ Plot.
