Coleman, M.P., presiding, it was decided to acquire Park racecourse from the Gisborne Racing Club on the terms set down by the Department of Lands and Survey, with two additional conditions. The first was that the Gisborne Racing Club should find a tenant or lease the property itself for a term of five years at an annual rental of £l5O, plus rates. The second condition was that the rent derived from the leasing of the Park property should go towards the payment of interest on the £2500 loan required to be raised by the borough to complete the exchange with the club of the Makaraka Domain for the Park Racecourse. Both decisions will come before the fortnightly meeting of the council next Tuesday for confirmation.
