SUMMARY AMI FORECAST. WELLINGTON, ,Jan. 18. GENERAL SIT UATJ ON. A secondary depression lias formed to the westward during Tuesday night and is likely to cross the Dominion to-night. The anti-cyclone oVe r Eastern Australia lias been losing its intensity. —Forecast.— Winds:—Moderate to strong northerly to westerly, backing soon to southerlies. Sousßough about Cuok and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate but rising. Eastern Tasman Sea :—Moderate to strong but decreasing southwest winds seas rough hut moderating. Weather,:—Changeable " and somewhat squally, with showers to-night in most districts, and thunder at places in the South island, but conditions improving again to-morrow. Temperatures cooler.
