TOKOMARU BAY ACTIVITIES

As the result of a meeting of swimmers held at Tokomaru Bay last week, it was decided to form a branch of the Olympic Swimming Club. The meeting, which was convened by Mr W. L. King, was presided over by Mr R. G. Sherwood Halo. Messrs M. Fry and A. Anderson, of the Olympic Club, were also present. After hearing addresses by Mr Fry it was decided to form a branch of the Olympic Club at Tokomaru Bay, and Air W. L. King was appointed bon. secretary and Mr Mills captain. It was decided to encoitrage life saving work and Mr Mills, who is the bolder of an instructor’s certificate, was authorised to organise patrols. It was also resolved to purchase a reel and equipment. It was decided to mark safe places on the beach and to arrange for patrols on Thursday afternoons and Sun. davs..

It was resolved to provide facilities for teaching school children and adults to swim, and this matter was leftin the hands of Mr King, honorary educational instruction officer. billiards MeCONACHY V, LINDRLTM. Not a great deal of biisiness awaited attention at the weekly meeting of the management committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association which was attended by the following: Messrs. H. E. Maude (in the chair). P. C. Dwyer, R-. Couuop, A. Baker, A. 0. Woodfield. G. V. Lynex, and A. Bignall (acting-holi. sec.). The grounds committee reported that the wickets bad played well on Saturday.

The draw for to-morrow resulted as follows: R.3.A. v. Cash Stores, Nomads v. Wanderers. The second grade draw for Saturday resulted: Marist v. High School B. at tlic High School ground; High School A v. Athletic, at the Oval. It was mentioned to the meeting that several of the clubs bad not yet paid their affiliation fees and it was decided co draw the attention of all clubs to Rule 21.
