FREEZERS' FIGHT
VOLUNTEERS AND STRIKERS. ONE. AIAN IN.) BRED. (Press Association-’ AIA ST E R TON. Jan. Id. Two men were arrested, and another was more less seriously injured, as the result of an alicreaiion between a number of free laborers and striking slaughtermen outside a Carter ton hotel yesterday afternoon. ft appears that an argument developed between the two factions in the bar of the hotel, and the participants adjourned to the street to settle the dispute. Blows were freely exchanged in the course of the brief but willing mix-up that followed, and a Maori free laborer received injuries that will keep him away from work for several days. The police wore soon on the scene, and arrested a free laborer and a striker. Both were released on bail and will later appear in the Magistrate's Court.
Though feeling Ims been running fairly high during the past few weeks, this was the first outward sign of trouble between the free laborers at the Waingawa works and the striking unionists.
