£ A letter from the Hawke’s Bay A*. * and P. Association in connection with an inquiry as to possible damage caused by the so called wasp which has been imported to combat the white butterfly pest, was received by the Mastertbn A. and P. Association. The question, tlio Hawke’s Bay association stated, had been referred to Mr. who was in charge of '.the research work in connection with the pest. An assurance had been given that there need ho no fear on that point as the particular species of wasp lives solely on the grub' in the early stages. To establish tho wasp in the first place, it was necessary to establish a-feeding ground, and, the letter stated, ip order to attract the white butterfly for that purpose, a member of the Hawke’s Bay committee had planted about three acres in cabbages. Those who consider the South Island to be habitually behind the times should be converted by . announcement of a service ear /-ompany plying between Christchurch and Nelson. "Cars equipped with, latest wireless/’ it states; • "Perfect reception of - programmes from 2AA and 3YA. Passengers thrilled and delighted.'” 4 --
