INDIAN “MESSIAH'S-•' SCORN FOR MONEY. SOUTHAMPTON Nov. 20 . A handsome young Brahmin arrived Here from New York in the German liner Bremen and made the surprising statement- that he had no use for money; that he had rejected an offer of £2,000 a week; and had refused a gift of a castle and 6,000 acres of land. He is Kri'slinamurti. who some years ago was hailed by Airs Annie Besanfc, the tlieosophist as the New Alessiah. lie said that he had only sufficient money to buy food and that the very clothes he stood in were gifts from Iris friends.
“Offers of money have been showered upon me,” he said, “but I have refused them all. My needs are simple, and [ need little to sustain life. Aloney is material, and materialism is the root of evil. That is the trouble with' the world to-day.
“In Hollywood I was offered £2, 000 a week, hut I declined to sign the contract because I will not appear in any oinemg -story.’i
