The Auckland Racing Club’s summer carnival concluded at Ellerr-lie to-day in beautiful weather. There was a good attendance and the going .was hard and fast. Great Star won the Grandstand Handicap, repeating hi 3 performance of la'st season. Diatomous led from end to end in the Royal Stakes. The Clifford Plate was annexed by Gold Trail, who heat Antique by a narrow margin. JALLDY KARO OCCASIONS SURPRISE Nine horses went to the barrier for the Goodwood Handicap, for .which Azalea was made favorite, carrying £714. Chief Joy was a good secondchoice with £7Ol. The winner turned up iu the little fancied Jalldy Karo .who returned a double-figure dividend. Whakapara and L’Allegro were the early leaders from Chief Joy, Jalldy Karo and Gay Idea, Royal Doulton being slowest to get going. Whakapara and JUAllegro raced together in the lead along the back and through the cutting where Azalea moved up to third. The order into the straight was: AVbakapara Azalea, and L’Allegro racing in lino with Chief Joy and Jalldy Karo and Gay Idea close up. In the run home Jalldy Karo and Azalea fought out a good finish, Jalldy Karo winning by.a head with Gay Idea two lengths away third. Chief Joy was fourth, followed by Alorry Damon and L’Allegro. Into the ' straight the order was King’s Archer, Cricket Bat, Red Sun, Sunny Sky, Teels, Great Star and Jaloux. At the distance, Great, Star 'came through and drew out to win by half a, length from Sunny Sky, with Jaloux half a length" away.

Only half a dozen two-year-olds went to the post for the Royal Stakes and backers made Diatomous favorite with £1232 on his chance. Princess Doreen (£1075) was second fancy. Diatomous soon raced' to the front and led through the cutting from Prints Doreen, Red Manfred, and Guarantee. Diatomous had about a throe .length lend into the straight from Red Manfred, Princess Doreen, Afidian, and Guarantee. Diatomous held on in the run to the judge to win by half a length from, the strong finishing Midian, with Guarantee half a, length away. Rod Manfred was almost in line fourth. Princess Doreen wa? some distance hack next with Queen Arausio last.

There was little change into the straight but over the last furlong Gold Trail came through, finishing well, and won by threequarters of a length from Antique, with Concentrate half a length away. Silver Ring was Fourth and then followed La Aloderne, Pillow Fight, and Tout le Aloud. LITTLE FANCIED LORDLY KNIGHT SCORES There were only six starters in the Bowen Handicap, for which Cadland was made a warm favorite with £1493. Greek Gold carried £1079 and the ultimate winner, Lordly Knight, £475. Greek Gold and Chromadyne began quickest, but, with a furlong gone, Lordly Knight ran to the front from Chromadyne. Greek Gobi,. Arisus, and Cadland. The only alteration across, the top was that Lord A T al moved up into fourth place and Lordly Knight, drew out to have a clear lead over Chromadyne. Turning for home and drawing further away, Lordly Knight won by three and a half length's from Greek Gold, with Chromadyne two lengths away, followed by Cadland, Lord Val and Arisus. ,

GOOD BETTING RACE In a good betting race, Aga Khan and Masterly Briefly were best supported in the Grey Handicap, which brought tho meeting to a close. Enquiries wore held into the running of the Toko Highweight and the County Hack. In respect of the first named, Manson, rider of Orby’s Choice, and Drinkwater, rider* of Lucky Alice, were suspended for 14 days. In the County Hack case, /McLeod, rider of Sprakling Morn, was suspended for a month on a charge of crossing Hampden (Barry) at the half-mile peg.
