Games, forwarded a most interesting tetter, the reading of which was followed by hearty applause. in general business it was decided to go into recess during December and January: that the November meeting would take the form of a Dickens, costume tea. alter wlncli the master's love of dancing would be celebrated by a polka or two. Sir Roger de Covertey. etc-, and the committee was asked to meet at the Ritz un Wednesday next at 7.30 p.m. to make arrangements for the function. Upon the motion of the secretary, it was decided that the financial year should coincide with the annual general meeting in March. The affiliation question, postponed from the first general meeting hi March, was revived for finality and the meeting decided against affiliation with tii 0 London Fellowship for Life present. Upon the motion of Airs. T. (L Lawless, seconded by Airs. X- Hooper. it was unanimously decided to operate in future under the name of the Gisborne Dickens Chib. Business concluded, the programme of study and entertainment was presented by Alcsdames. T. G. Lawless (in lieu of Air. A. T. Webb), A. C. Coleman, H- T. Sinclair, A. Scott, Nurse. Perrin and Air 'J'. C. Lawless. The items were: "Betsy Trotwood’s Disappointment, from “David Copperfield. 1 ’ a dialogue, given by Airs. Scott impersonating Betsy and Air. Lawless as the doctor ; a scene from "Pickwick Papers" by the following, cast: Airs. Lawless, as Napkins, iue Mayor; Miss Perrin. .[inks. the clerk; A:lrs. A. Scott. .Muzzle. the footman; Mrs. Hooper. Pickwick; Mrs- 'Sinclair. Sam Weller; Aliss Almond, MTss Willie .held; Mrs. A. C. Coleman, drummer the constable,; and Airs. C. S. Vincent and Alia Lawless as special constables. Two impersonations, "Uriah Heap” and "Sqweers,” were contributed by Mas. ter Nonnun Lee. ,A song, "An Odo to .Dickens,” was rendered by Airs. A- C. Coleman who composed the woi’dg and music. A sketch, “David and Dora,” from “David Copperfield,’'’ was Alcsdames, - Hooper and Coleman’s contribution, the former taking the part of Dora and the tatter that of David. A scene from "Great Expectations.’’ entitled ’ ‘The Convict,” was produced by AD'. G. 11. Hill as Joe Garge ry ; Mrs. A. Scott as Mrs- Joe Gargery : .Master, Norman Lee as Pip ; A.lr. A- T. Webb as Abel Ala gw it ch; and Airs G. S. Vincent as a sergeant of police. Two costume sketches, , "Mr. Bumble’s Courtship'’' and "Bumble Meditating after Marriage/ 5 were enacted by Aliss A. Hampton as. Airs. Carney and Air. Leicester Afawson as Bumble. The whole programme was a treat and a credit to every due taking part- - Supper concluded the proceedings.
