TOKO-MAR U BAY WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. (Special to the Times)'. Hie monthly meeting of the Tokomaru Bay Women's Institute took place and was very enjoyable and successful. It was opened with the Institute Seng. Eire new members were enrolled, making the roll mount to 55. The roll-call this month was ; 'AYhat 1 dislike most in housework, and’why?’’ and evoked great amusement- The most general beto-noir seemed to b t > window-cleaning. The two competitions for the afternoon were (a) the best plain scones, which was won by Airs Mclntyre and (b) the most distinct articles fitted in a tin matchbox, which was won by Airs E. Irlankey. with 358 separate articles. Mesdames Kay and Angus gave a demonstration of rug-making. After afternoon tea had been served, the members gave ‘ their efforts of original Limericks, some of which were very clever and unusual, the prize going to Airs. J. L. Grant. It was decided to invite the Tolaga Bay Institute members in November, when the competitions will be (a) sweet peas and roses, home-growing, and (b) the best article made from a yard of material. The local Institute will be visiting Tolaga Bay in November. The hostesses at afternoon tea- were Mesdames F. E- Porter, E. AVickens, Cookery, Ncwkuuls and G. Afackay. PERSONALS. Air. and Airs. AY.TTazor. Gisborne, are the guests of Airs Iv. Alaeka-y, Tokoma.ru Bay. * * * Mr. and Airs. J- Carver, T'okomaru Bay, were visitors to Gisborne during the weelc. * * * A very pleasant function took place at the Tokomaru -Bay Post Office, when Air. S, J. 'Williams, who has been transferred to the Tikitiki branch, was presented with, a handsome fountain-pen by the staff, * *’* The many friends of Airs- J. S.
