LOANS TO FARMERS
RURAL CREDIT BOARD OPERATIONS
(Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Oct. 11. A conference of representatives of the Bural Intermediate Credit Board and rural intermediate credit associations operating in the South Island was held this morning, Mr John Brown, of Canterbury, a. member ot the Central Board, presiding. Tile conference opened with a message of welcome from the Prime Minister, who expressed a hope that , the discussions would mak 0 for th© more efficient and satisfactory administration of the system. Ho was confident that with an improvement of farming conditions there, would bq steady and satisfactory expansion of the operations of the boat'd, and of associations in the southern portion of the Dominion. The conference placed on record its thanks for- the encouraging message from Mr Forbes, and it's appreciation of the interest and support he has given the scheme. The chairman,said tliei’e were now 43 associations, in the Dominion,” of which 41 were in active operation. The board,, in five years, Tad lent approximately £1,000,000. Losses had b(een negligible compared with the large volume of business transacted.
