Davidson, the discredited Rector of Stifl’key, ended • last night, when summonses were served on him and Joe Cannon, proprietor of the exhibition, the latter for creating a public nuisance attracting crowds and causing footways to be obstructed, and the Rev. H. Davidson. for aiding and abetting. Both appeared in court to-day. Cannon told a Daily Mail reporter that he had guaranteed tjie Rev. IT. Davidson £SOO for two weeks’ exhibition. Two days’ takings in “twopenny peeps” amounted to £l5O On Tuesday 10,080 people paid twopence each for a peep at the Rev. Davidson, who was recently convictfed in a Consistory Court of immorality. He was sitting in a sealed barrel at Blackpool in an open air exhibition, says the Daily Chronicle. A' local girl, Barbara Cockayne, is attempting a ten-days’ fast in an adjoining barrel. “I am not going to fast”, said Air Davidson. “1 need £IOOO for my defence fund, and must raise the money somehow. Aly feelings rebel against this, but I am going through with it.’’ Air Davidson had contracted, for a big sum of money, to sit in the- barrel for ten days. He was to enter each morning and stay therein, with the exception of luncheon and tea breaks, until late in the evening.
