The radio conference, at which 70 nations are represented, spent five hours discussing which language it would use, without reaching a decision. A Soviet delegate hurnoursly suggested Russian, since 170,000,000 people spoke it, whereupon Mr Crawford urged English, which 250,000,000 used.
